NP baseball delayed
Saturday's Class 3A Mishawaka Marian baseball sectional was delayed by weather, forcing the start of New Prairie's semifinal game with Jimtown back several hours to after the News-Dispatch's deadline for Sunday's edition. MC boys soccer open field/conditioning upcoming
Open fields and conditioning for Michigan City High School boys soccer begin from 6-8 p.m. June 5 and continue during the summer on Mondays through Thursdays. McLain to appear in Three Oaks
The Biggest Little Baseball Museum and the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Mich., will host Denny McLain, baseball’s last 30-game winner, on June 22. The former Detroit Tiger, who won the American League MVP and Cy Young awards in 1968, when he went 31-6, will conduct an autograph session at the museum, located at 3 N. Elm St., from 9-11 a.m. At 11:30, he will appear on stage at the nearby Acorn Theater, where he will reminisce with fans about his teammates and the ‘68 world championship season. The presentation will be followed by another autograph session in the theater lobby. The $10 theater admission price includes a hot dog, unlimited soft drinks, and a box of Cracker Jack. MC hosts Future Wolves Camps
Michigan City High School will be hosting Future Wolves Camps for baseball (June 4-7), boys and girls soccer (June 10-13), boys and girls tennis (June 17-19) and girls basketball (June 10-13). The camps, to be conducted by the various varsity coaches, will be at the high school with the exception of girls basketball, which will be at Barker. Camps are open to kids going into grades K-8. FB showcase Tuesday at Ames
Michigan City will host a Region College Football Showcase for prospective college athletes Tuesday at Ames Field. Registration is at 5 p.m. NCAA Division II and III and NAIA coaches will be on hand for evaluation. The linemen session will run from 5:30 to 6:30 followed by the skill position session from 7 to 8:15.
The event will consist of footwork and position drills, one on ones and seven on sevens. Athletes will receive a registration numbered T-shirt to aid in the identification process. Cost is $10 per athlete. A concession stand will be open for spectators.
Meet Rusty, win TV at House of Hope outing
Rusty the RailCat will be on hand at the House of Hope baseball field, 907 Chicago St., Michigan City, from 11 a.m. to noon on June 15. The first 25 people in attendance receive free hot dogs and snack packs.

Briar Leaf Junior Golf Camps
Briar Leaf Golf Club is offering Junior Golf Camps beginning in June. The camps are offered four times in the summer and feature professional swing instruction from PGA Professional Jay Williams and PGA Associate Cody Ward and their staff, as well as on-course play.
Beginning juniors can register for the First Swing Program, while experienced golfers may participate in the Players Club. Registration forms are available at Briar Leaf or on the club’s website at briarleaf.com.

Drifters Golf Outing July 19
The Michigan City Drifters Scholarship 9 Hole Women’s Golf Play Day for all skill levels will be July 19 at the M.C. Municipal Course. Cost is $50 per golfer of $200 per team. The fee includes lunch with games at every hole. Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30. There is a $20 donation for lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) with access to women-owned business vendors. The Drifters will also award its annual scholarships to high school seniors showcasing leadership, community service and academics.
