Four contestants finished with 13-1 records in last week's News-Dispatch Pro Picks contest, but that wasn't quite good enough. The Michigan City Basketball League (MCBL) begins its second session at 1 p.m. Sunday at Krueger Middle School. Age range is Kindergarten through eighth grade. Cost is $30. Sign up online at michigancitybasketball.com.
Football tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale for tonight's La Porte-Michigan City football game at Ames Field in the respective high school athletics offices.
Tickets, which are $6, are available at Michigan City until 3 p.m. and at La Porte until 3:30 p.m. The game kicks off at 7.
LP Bowling Club breakfast Saturday
The La Porte Slicers Bowling Club is holding a Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Salvation Army building, 3240 Monroe St., in La Porte.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and children 5 and under are free. Advance tickets are available from any Slicers bowler or coach as well as at the door.
PNW to host baseball camp
Purdue Northwest will host a four-week baseball camp at its Westville campus starting Jan. 12. Pride assistant coach Shane Prance will direct the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven players per coach. Sessions are offered in hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. Space is limited. Marquette hosts 3-on-3 tourney
In recognition of Marquette and Michigan City reviving its boys basketball rivalry, Marquette High School is hosting a 3-on-3 alumni basketball tournament Nov. 29 at the Scholl Center. The double-elimination tournament, which has a three-game minimum, is open to anyone from age 18 on up. A minimum of two players on each team must be Marquette Catholic or St. Mary’s alumni.
