Karissa Gilpin (two doubles) and Lauren Fadke each drove in four runs as New Prairie outslugged Constantine (Mich.) 15-11 in six innings in softball Saturday. Kylie Briner also knocked in a pair.

MC hosts Future Wolves Camps

Michigan City High School will be hosting Future Wolves Camps for baseball (June 4-7), boys and girls soccer (June 10-13), boys and girls tennis (June 17-19) and girls basketball (June 10-13). The camps, to be conducted by the various varsity coaches, will be at the high school with the exception of girls basketball, which will be at Barker. City hosting FB showcase

Michigan City will host a Region College Football Showcase for prospective college athletes May 28 at Ames Field. Registration is at 5 p.m. NCAA Division II and III and NAIA coaches will be on hand for evaluation. The linemen session will run from 5:30 to 6:30 followed by the skill position session from 7 to 8:15, The event will consist of footwork and position drills, one on ones and seven on sevens. Athletes will receive a registration numbered T-shirt to aid in the identification process. Cost is $10 per athlete. A concession stand will be open for spectators.

Meet Rusty, win TV at House of Hope outing

Rusty the RailCat will be on hand at the House of Hope baseball field, 907 Chicago St., Michigan City, from 11 a.m. to noon on June 15. The first 25 people in attendance receive free hot dogs and snack packs. A 32-inch TCL Roku TV will also be raffled off. Tickets are available at the Michigan Township Trustee Office, 2601 E. Westville golf outing Saturday

The Westville Alumni Association will host a golf outing Saturday at the Michigan City Municipal Course. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Scott. C. Knoll Scholarship Fund. In the event's 12 years, over $75,000 in scholarships have been awarded to graduating Westville seniors. The outing will be a four-person scramble. Entry fee is $75 per golfer. The fee includes lunch, greens fee, cart and meal after golf. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. Deadline is Thursday. Legion Post 83 to hold baseball tryout 

The American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83 baseball committee is organizing for the upcoming season for its Junior division team. Participants must be age 17 or younger as of Dec. 31. Practices begin soon and games are played in June and July. An open tryout will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at Clarke Park. Singletary to speak at FCA banquet

Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary will be the keynote speaker at the Northwest Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes Night of Champions fundraising banquet Wednesday at the Avalon Manor Banquet Center in Merrillville. The event is used to create awareness of ministry outreach and to raise funds to support programs and activities organized by Northwest Indiana FCA. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are free but registration is required.

Briar Leaf Summer Junior Camps

Briar Leaf Golf Club is offering its popular Summer Junior Golf Camps beginning in June. The camps are offered four times in the summer and feature professional swing instruction from PGA Professional Jay Williams and PGA Associate Cody Ward and their staff, as well as on-course play. Beginning juniors can register for the First Swing Program, while experienced golfers may participate in the Players Club. Registration forms are available at Briar Leaf or on the club's website at briarleaf.com. La Porte Junior Golf Tour

Registration is now open for this summer's La Porte Junior Golf Tour. Designed for juniors who have on-course playing experience, the tour visits Briar Leaf, Beechwood, Legacy Hills and Michigan City Municipal in a seven-tournament schedule. Players will compete in age groups ranging from eight to 17 years old for both boys and girls. At only $45 for the season, the tour provides a great opportunity for juniors to play at all of the local public golf courses in a tournament atmosphere. Registration forms are available at Briar Leaf Golf Club or on the La Porte Junior Golf Tour Facebook page. Softball travel team needs catcher

The PJM Elite 14U travel softball team is looking for a catcher and would consider an all-around utility player. Players must have been 13 or 14 as of Dec. 31, 2018. The Class C team, based at the Portage Junior Miss Softball Complex, plays a full summer schedule, including NSA and USSSA tournaments. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Soccer Camp

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church hosts a soccer camp June 17-June 21. The main camp is for ages 5-12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 17-June 21. The beginners’ camp is for ages 3-4 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 18-21. Cost is $20 per child. (Timely payment of this fee secures your child’s spot.) Registrations and fee payment must be completed by June 1. Space is limited and there’s a cap on the number of participants allowed in each age level.

Each registered and participating child will receive a T-shirt and additional sports item. Participants must bring cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards and water. St. Stan’s 5K June 1

St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church will hold the seventh annual St. Stanislaus 5K run on June 1 at Nelson Park in Trail Creek. Race proceeds will fund needed repairs to St. Stanislaus Church, one of LaPorte County’s oldest Catholic churches.

The race course treks through the beautiful surroundings of Nelson Park and Trail Creek. Unique plaques will be given in eight age divisions for women, men and children, plus the top three overall female and male runners and  the top female and male walkers.
