LTG camp begins Monday

The LTG Basketball Camp, directed by Michigan City alum Jarrod Jones, runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the high school. The camp, open to boys and girls ages 9 to 17, includes individual skill development and highly competitive 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 play. All participants receive an LTG Love The Game camp t-shirt and drawstring bag. Cost is $100. Register in advance at www.ltglovethegame.com or before the start of the camp at 9:15 a.m. Monday.

Play Day Golf Outing July 19

The La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership will host the 45th Annual Play Day Golf Outing on July 19 at Beechwood. The outing begins with registration at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start for golfers at 9. Cost is $550 for teams of four.  The event is sponsored by Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Spa, the La Porte County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Walsh & Kelly, Inc., Qubit Networks and Dermody For Mayor. The outing includes a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Sauers Buick GMC, the fastest hole contest sponsored by the South Bend International Airport and a putting contest sponsored by Lakeshore Promotions and Gifts. RailCats host Bishop Hying Night

The RailCats and the Diocese of Gary will host Bishop Hying's Birthday Bash and Farewell Celebration Aug. 6 at the U.S. Steel Yard. The evening will kick off with a 5 p.m. Mass. Gates re-open at 6 p.m. ahead of Hying's ceremonial first pitch at 6:45 and the RailCats game with Fargo-Moorhead at 7:10.

Fans have multiple ticket options. A game ticket that includes a three-hour unlimited buffet of BBQ pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, popcorn, peanuts, chips, cookies, pop and water is $30, while a ticket that also includes a beer/wine package costs $45. A game ticket without any of the other perks is $10. Limited edition Bishop Hying bobbleheads are available for $20. 

Tickets can be purchased online at bit.ly/bishopbirthday until Aug. 2 or at the Diocesan Pastoral Center (9292 Broadway, Merrillville; 219-769-9292) by July 24.

Drifters Golf Outing July 19 

The Michigan City Drifters Scholarship 9 Hole Women’s Golf Play Day for all skill levels will be July 19 at the M.C. Municipal Course. Cost is $50 per golfer or $200 per team. The fee includes lunch with games at every hole. Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30.

There is a $20 donation for lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) with access to women-owned business vendors. The Drifters will also award its annual scholarships to high school seniors showcasing leadership, community service and academics. RailCats clinic July 22  

The Gary SouthShore RailCats will offer a free Legends for Youth baseball clinic, hosted by the MLB Players Alumni Association, July 22 at U.S. Steel Yard. The clinic will be presented by Gary native and former Major League pitcher Latroy Hawkins, Home Field Advantage and the RailCats. Session 1, for 8-12 year olds, runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and session 2, for 13-17 year olds, follows from 1-3 p.m. Register for the event at https://www.mlb.com/mlbpaa/events/gary-clinic
