Thomas J. Ludwig, 77, of Michigan City, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at 6:25 a.m. at Chesterton Manor in Chesterton, Indiana.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Cremation will follow viewing.
Tom was born April 19, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Fred and Irene Ludwig.
On Nov. 2, 2006, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee he married Kotina McCoy Ludwig who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving are three children, Ricky McCoy, Chitara Macon and Angel McCoy; one special grandson he helped raise, Joshua Macon, and many loving other grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis (John) Reeder; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Karen, and one brother, John.
Tom retired from Westville Correctional after 23 years of service as a Correctional Officer.
He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge in Michigan City and the Pilots Club in La Porte. He loved flying his Cessna 150 and giving rides to his family and friends and teaching his loving wife Kotina to fly. He also was a great teacher of life and how to ride a motorcycle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
