Virginia Louise Nichols, 71, of Michigan City passed away peacefully at 4:06 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at Franciscan Health Hospital, Michigan City.
She was born Dec. 20, 1947, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Howard and Doris (Jenson) Smith.
Virginia was a current board member of the Board of Cemetery Trustees, Michigan City, former owner of The Best Little Hair House in Town salon, formerly had her own home salon and retired as a hair dresser from Hair Gallery, Michigan City.
On Oct. 25, 1986, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Norman Nichols, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, George Smith; one sister, Barbara Devetski; and mother and father-in-law, Geraldine and Bernard Nichols.
Surviving are one daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Buchanan of Michigan City; one brother, Howard (Corinne) Smith of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Haley and Gavin Buchanan; three close nieces, Cara (Aaron) Fox, Erin (Matt) Campbell and Megan (Zach) O’Dowd; several other nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place. A private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
