Ann Troy, age 95, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Brentwood Senior Living in La Porte, Indiana.
Ann was born May 29, 1924, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Harry and Clara (Winshall) Yanovsky. When she was 5, they moved to the United States. She graduated from Evander Childs High School in New York City where her family settled.
On Sept. 14, 1945, at the Norman Oklahoma Naval Air Technical Training Center, where she was stationed as a WAVE, she married Robert F. Troy in a full military wedding. They were married for over 71 years until Robert passed away.
Surviving family members include her daughters, Karen (Fred) Pieplow and Lori (Pete) Ziesmer. Ann also had three grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Heisey, Timothy (Kimberly) Pieplow and Meredith (Rupert) Williams. She was extremely proud of her three great-grandchildren Luke, Lydia, and Hannah Pieplow.
Before the birth of her daughters, Ann worked as a secretary to the manager of the local state employment office as well as a secretary to the Purchasing Agent at Warren Featherbone Company in Three Oaks. Ann loved traveling, live theater and working at her computer. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at VFW Post 2536 and the Senior Center.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN 46360.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ann’s name to the VFW Children’s Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan or to the Honor Guard of the Michigan City VFW.
