Lorraine R. Crakes, age 93, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Franciscan Health in Michigan City, Indiana.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1926, in Michigan City, Indiana to Phillip and Martha Novak, who preceded her in death. On April 5, 1945, she married Harry D. Crakes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Michigan City, Indiana. They were married for more than 50 years. Harry also preceded her in death.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Diane (Keith) Morris of Leitchfield, Kentucky, and Christine (Edward) Bowmar of La Porte, Indiana; daughter-in-law: Lena Crakes of Chesterton, Indiana; grandchildren, Alison (Leon) Franzen, Jeremy Morris and Jaimie (Shane) Matthews; and great-grandchildren, Julian, Ben, Ivy, Kailyn, Kennedy and Harper. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John Crakes; and sister, Doris Plamowski.
Lorraine was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, St. Joe Club, and a Bowling League. She was an avid cat lover and will be greatly missed by her cat, Mia. She loved to shop, especially at the dollar store. Lorraine was a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was actively involved with her grandchildren. She would pick up her grandkids off the school bus with always a snack waiting for the little Dobbers. Lorraine enjoyed family vacations on Bear Lake in Michigan.
Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, and on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 South Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 12 p.m. at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church with Father Jordan Fetcko officiating.
Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be given in Lorraine’s name to Michiana Humane Society.
