Judith Ann East, 80, of Michigan City passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Life Care Center in Michigan City.
A time of remembrance will be held for family and friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Pickens officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery.
Judith was born April 19, 1939, in Michigan City to the late William and Vera (Matthews) Young.
On April 27, 1955, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, she married Charles East, who passed away on Sept. 17, 1987.
Surviving are four children, Richard (Elizabeth) East of La Porte, Randall East of Michigan City, Rebecca (Thomas) Lynch of Michigan City and Vicky (Michael) Stegeman of Portage, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Robert W. East and Ronald D. East.
She was a retired cashier working for many year at Kmart in Michigan City and Al's (Valueland) on Franklin Street in Michigan City.
She was a kind-hearted and sweet woman who dearly loved her family and animals. She loved to watch classic movies, musicals and cook for her family. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #935, a life member of the DAV Auxiliary and a past member of the VFW auxiliary. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
