Big dogs among special guests at Artisan Market

Entrepreneurial group The Collective will host its first artisan market of the year on Saturday, and among the special gusts will be CJ, a resident of Giant Paw Prints Rescue in Westville. A portion of proceeds from the market will benefit Giant Paw Prints, a dog rescue specializes in large-breed dogs. The market will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. Admission is $5 for guests 13 and over. More than 50 small, local businesses will be selling handcrafted, up-cycled and vintage merchandise, such as jewelry, bath and body care, gourmet food, home decor and clothing. The Collective and several artisan vendors will be donating 10 percent of sales, and Burn ‘Em Brewing will be donating profits from a specialty beer brewed exclusively for the market. Representatives from Giant Paw Prints will be on-site with adoptable dogs, including CJ, and information on how to get involved. Guests can also bring donations, whether monetary or supplies. Among needed items are toys for large breeds, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, grain-free treats, peanut butter (without xylitol), Dawn dish soap, sponges with scrubbers, and plastic grocery bags.
