TUESDAY

Domestic battery and strangulation were reported from a residence in the 400 block of N. Carroll Avenue at 2:36 p.m. It involved a husband and his wife.

MONDAY

Great Clips reported an employee purse worth almost $300 in cash was stolen when it was left on the hood of a car while the employee was applying makeup inside the car.

David Glen Payne, 60, of Michigan City was arrested for operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more.

An Amazon Kindle Fire ($120), Red Zune MP3 player ($300), Tom Tom GPS ($100), black power bank for cell phone ($40), 64 GB flash drive ($15), approximately $20 in loose change and two iPhone chargers were reported stolen from a car parked in the 700 block of E. Homer between 4 and 6:30 a.m.

A woman reported her vehicle was entered and the glove box damaged after she left it unlocked overnight following a cleaning in the 800 block of E. Barker Avenue. the glove box was reportedly broken off at the hinges and the vehicle smelled of smoke.

A woman reported her vehicle entered and $152 in cash stolen, also in the 800 block of E. Barker Avenue.

Someone reportedly broke into a car and stole a life jacket in the Port Authority parking Lot.

Golo gas station reported an employee had stolen close to $10,000 from the cash register over several shifts. When confronted, the employee allegedly agreed to pay it back, but then didn't show up to work anymore. Upon further investigation, police determined the employee had given Golo a false address. They were also unable to get a return from the BMV.

SUNDAY

A hit and run involving a driver crashing into, and damaging, a lamp post in the 100 block of Franklin.

SEPT. 14

A 9 mm S&W gun, two Fifth Third debit cards, an Indiana state identification and $50 in cash was reportedly stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Emily.

A woman requested harassment charges against a former co-worker who professed his love to her, then threatened to kill himself. She later found a diary where he wrote about loving her, killing himself and killing her boyfriend.

SEPT. 12

Animal Control retrieved a small poodle mix dog wandering at large in the 1200 block of E Michigan Boulevard. The animal was reportedly very old and friendly, but did not have a microchip or any tags to identify the owner, so was taken to the city kennel.

Thirteen assorted cell phones and a Chase Bank debit card were found at a city park.

SEPT. 7

James Lee Powers, 35, of Michigan City was arrested on an outstanding La Porte County warrant for child exploitation, a Level 5 felony.
