An iPhone and a hunting knife with a green handle were reported stolen from Toyota Tacoma in the 600 block of Franklin Street.
Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Salem Court and located three 9 mm shell casings in the 1600 block of Gardena Street at 1:36 a.m.
Burglary was reported in the 10000 block of Old Grand Beach Road at 10:04 a.m.
Shots were reportedly fired into a car in the 1100 block of Salem, damaging the front passenger window along with the roof and the hood at 10:23 p.m. The estimated cost of damage was $1,500.
The words "Merry Xmas" were found carved into the side of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, and three tires, including the front passenger and two rears, were also found slashed on the same vehicle around 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Washington. The victim believed the culprit to be her child's father, who was reportedly upset because he wasn't allowed to have the child on Christmas.
The theft of an Indiana ID, a Horizon Bank debit card, Social Security Number card, Medicare card, and $28 in U.S. Currency was reported from a residence in the 1000 block of Manhattan Street. The victim suspected an individual who recently helped him clean his apartment.
Burglary involving bodily injury and the discharge of a firearm inside a building were reported on King's Way.
A 57-year-old Michigan City man was charged with operating while intoxicated after being pulled over for reckless driving on U.S. 12 by Liberty Trail.
Eleven wrapped Christmas gifts were reported stolen from under a Christmas tree at a home in the 300 block of Hendricks.
A woman reported being battered by her son in the 1000 block of Manhattan Street at 9:15 a.m.
A 38-year-old La Porte man was charged for domestic battery in the 100 block of W. Barker Avenue.
Kohl's reported a shoplifting incident at 5:30 p.m. involving a woman who took two pullovers and a pair of pants.
