La PORTE – The La Porte County Redevelopment Commission will meet Wednesday, June 26, at 4 p.m. in Meeting Room 3 at the La Porte County Complex.
Pine Township Board to meet
TOWN OF PINES – There will be a meeting of the Pine Township Board at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Township Fire Station, 1516 Maple St. in the Town of Pines. Agenda topics include: township assistance guidelines, internal controls and a fire protection contract.
Meridian Title to host Alex’s Lemonade Stand
La PORTE — Meridian Title Corp. at 1000 W. State Road 2 in La Porte will host Alex’s Lemonade Stand to help fight childhood cancer on Thursday, June 28. It will be the company’s 11th annual lemonade fundraising event, with the stand open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with drinks, hot dogs and chips. Donations will be accepted and can also be made online at alexslemonade.org/mypage/1721568.
Money raised will benefit the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered non-profit to fund childhood cancer research. The mission is to raise money and awareness of new treatments and cures, and to encourage and empower others to get involved. NIPSCO awarding public safety grants
MERRILLVILLE — NIPSCO is accepting applications for a grant to support local nonprofits which provide public safety education and training in northern Indiana. Grants are available in amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 9 with awards announced the week of Aug. 26.
Grant opportunities will include community and youth public safety education programming, training for first responders, police and fire department fire and carbon monoxide safety programs, education and training in the prevention of damage to underground natural gas lines, and child-related safety education.
Nonprofit organizations with a mission to support public safety education and training are invited to submit a grant request through NIPSCO’s online request site at NIPSCO.com/SafetyGrant. Select the “Safety Action Grant” option from the “Type of Support” drop-down box on the application and follow instructions.
Documents to submit include a detailed project description, including amount requested, scope of the project and community impact; an overview of how support will be recognized and benefit your organization; project budget; board of directors and other project contributors.
