Redevelopment Commission meets Monday
MICHIGAN CITY – The Michigan City Redevelopment Commission will meet in executive session prior to its regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 9. The closed session will begin at 4 p.m. in the Planning Conference Room at City Hall, 100 E. Michigan Blvd. The meeting is to discuss pending litigation and the proposed purchase of proerty.
The regular meeting will follow at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda includes Double Track project bond process approvals and approval of a demolition quote for 355 U.S. 20 (Amereco); and updates on the former Memorial Hospital site project, Ohio Street project, U.S. 12 Bridge projects, Franklin Street paving project, 11th Street Station project, and Blue Chip expansion.

MICHIGAN CITY – The Michigan City Redevelopment Authority will conduct a special meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Planning Department Conference Room at City Hall, 100 E. Michigan Blvd. The purpose of the meeting is to approve Double Tracking project Redevelopment Authority Lease Rental Revenue Bonds.
Civil Service meeting postponed
MICHIGAN CITY – The Michigan City Police Civil Service Commission has canceled its meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 11. The meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.
County BZA to meet on Sept. 17
La PORTE – The La Porte County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the La Porte County Complex. The agenda includes a request for a variance to operate a sawmill on County Line Road near CR-200S in New Durham Township; a petition for variance to operate a daycare/preschool for up to 15 children in the 7200 block of West Bleck Road in Coolspring Township; and a petition to breed and sell Australian shepherd dogs at a residence in the 0-100 block of West Powell Drive in Scipio Township.
Public Art Committee to meet
MICHIGAN CITY – The Michigan City Public Art Committee will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Mayors Conference Room at City Hall, 100 E Michigan Blvd. The agenda includes a Michiana Humane Society partnership with area schools to create posters celebrating its 100th anniversary; and updates on the Uptown Plaza, Sculptfusion, public art placement and upcoming fundraisers.
