A car parked in the 100 block of West Warren Street between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday reportedly was covered in white spray paint and eggs.

Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Twin Road after a man reportedly choked his ex-girlfriend inside his vehicle in the driveway.

Virginia Santos Newman, 57, of Chesterton, was arrested on a theft charge at 12:48 p.m. at the Calvin Klein store at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets.

An I-pass reportedly was stolen from an unlocked vehicle at Heisman Harbor sometime between 1 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Two bicycles reportedly were stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 400 block of Gardena Street sometime between 12:30-2:21 p.m.

Three men reportedly stole multiple items from the Citi Trends store in the 4300 block of Franklin Street around 2:30 p.m.


Isaiah Edward Conner Jr., 21, of Michigan City, was arrested on a Level 6 felony theft charge near Ninth Street and Willard Avenue shortly after 11 a.m.

Dante Armon Sellers, 18, of Michigan City, was arrested on charges of Level 6 felony theft and class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement near Ninth Street and Willard Avenue shortly after 11 a.m.

A bicycle chained to a bike rack in the parking garage at Blue Chip Casino reportedly was stolen when an unknown suspect removed the front wheel sometime between 8 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday.

A Dewey Street resident reported that after paying two men $70 to perform repairs at her home around noon, the men took her money, repaired nothing and stole her jewelry.

A woman reported having been battered by her husband’s daughter in the 400 block of Walker Street shortly before 2 p.m.

A Sunset Grille employee reported his moped was stolen from the restaurant parking lot sometime between 3-6 p.m.

A moped reportedly was stolen from the parking lot near the bookstore at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets sometime between 6:15-10 p.m.

Stephen William Plew, 24, of Michigan City, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. in the 600 block of S. Carroll Avenue on a class B misdemeanor charge of battery.


A handgun reportedly was stolen from the glove compartment of a vehicle parked in the 3200 block of Cleveland Avenue sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

A family of nine reportedly left Texas Corral without paying their bill at 11:21 a.m.

AUG. 2

Sears reported they received $160 in counterfeit currency during two transactions made shortly after 6 p.m.
