THURSDAY

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for truancy and being uncontrollable toward his mother, and was transported to the La Porte County Juvenile Detention Center after lying on the floor under a blanket in the middle of the living room, refusing to go to school in the 3500 block of Salem Court. 

A dog was left in the city kennel. The animal possessed a microchip, but attempts to locate the owner were not successful.

WEDNESDAY

Jeff D. Kelley, 49, of Michigan City was arrested on multiple active warrants.

A man reported being battered with a crowbar by another man who pulled up alongside him in a van in the 100 block of E. 10th Street.

Joshua Thomson Hildebrandt, 24, of Michigan City was charged for driving while suspended, an A misdemeanor.

Christian Michael Puetzer, 18, of Michigan City was charged with possession of marijuana, a B misdemeanor.

A license plate was reported stolen in the 1300 block of W. 11th Street.

Multiple unauthorized transactions totaling $187 were reportedly made with a stolen credit card in Michigan City and Oakbrook, Illinois.

The windows of three vehicles parked in 100 block of E. Ripley were reportedly smashed with a rock or a brick. The rear passenger tail light of a fourth vehicle was reportedly broken too. The garage and shed both had a window broken.

A cellphone was reportedly stolen out of a bathroom at Michigan City High School.

Police responded to a fight between multiple dogs in the 200 block of Pleasant Street. The victim said he was walking his dog when they were first attacked by a small dog, and then a big dog. The fight was reportedly broken up before police arrived by a man with gun. A magazine fell reportedly fell out of the gun when the man used it to separate the animals.

TUESDAY

Human feces was reportedly placed in the mailbox and a in vehicle in the 1100 block of W. 10th Street. The residents there reported finding feces in the mailbox a couple times before. The feces was reportedly in both a solid and liquid form.

Theft of a U-Haul pickup truck was reported in the 2300 block of E. Michigan Boulevard.

SEPT. 7

A woman reported being pushed down the stairs by her boyfriend in the 1600 block of Kentucky.
