MERRILLVILLE – Merrillville-based Centier Bank, which will be opening a branch in Michigan City, was named a “Best Place to Work in Indiana” during the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 workplace awards.
“This recognition means so much to our organization. We put a lot of resources in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent who fit well within our Servant Heart Culture," said Chrisanne Christ, senior partner in the Human Resource Development.
"We are continually searching for new and innovative ways to put our associates’ needs first and this award is a great recognition of our efforts. All of our associates make Centier a 'Best Place to Work' every day, so we thank them for all they do to care for each other and support our mission.”
The top companies in the state were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys. The Best Companies Group, which handled the selection process, oversees similar programs in 25 other states.
All companies participating in the 2019 Best Places to Work program receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to employees, who are surveyed anonymously.
Centier will be opening its 63rd branch in Indiana this summer at 5501 Franklin St. in Michigan City.
Four area companies also made the list in the small companies (15-74 employees) category: 4. Lakeside Wealth Management of Chesterton; 36. General Insurance Services of Michigan City; 38. Peepers by PeeperSpecs of Michigan City; and 47. Starin Marketing, Inc. of Chesterton.
"Congratulations to these top companies for creating and sustaining workplace cultures where employees flourish," said Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. "By emphasizing personal and professional development, a healthy work-life balance and offering perks and benefits that make an impact in the lives of employees, they demonstrate their dedication to listening to and respecting their employees.
"They recognize the significance of valuing their employees and how that positively impacts their business."
Brinegar said finding and keeping a talented workforce is important for any business.
“We hear repeatedly from Hoosier employers that having a talented workforce is the most critical issue they face. The 125 companies honored on the Best Places list have made their people the top priority through policies and practices that emphasize attracting, retaining and developing this most valuable resource.”
Centier has been named to the Indiana Chamber’s Best Places to Work list for 13 consecutive years, this year placing fifth in the Large Company, which includes businesses that employ between 250 and 999 people.
