Platt to lead LP Co. Symphony in season closure

Alexander Platt will lead the LCSO in an evening of Rodgers & Hammerstein music on Saturday.

La PORTE — The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra will close its 2018-19 season with Music Director Candidate Alexander Platt leading the LCSO in an evening of Rodgers & Hammerstein on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., at La Porte’s Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge St., La Porte.

Selections from Carousel, Oklahoma, South Pacific and The Sound of Music , among other Rogers & Hammerstein musicals, will be featured. Joining the LCSO at the end of each half will be the choral ensemble Illumination along with a community chorus providing the voices to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from The Sound of Music.

Platt is the third candidate to audition for LCSO’s Music Director position. He serves the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and the Wisconsin Philharmonic as Music Director. Platt also spent 12 seasons as Resident Conductor and Music Advisor for the Chicago Opera Theatre and has guest conducted throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Denmark, England, Germany and Scotland. In addition, he has recorded for Minnesota Public Radio, National Public Radio and the BBC.

Balcony Seating tickets are still available (Adults $20 per seat and Seniors age 60 and over $18 per seat). Table Seating tickets are soldout. Students with a valid student ID are admitted for free.
