MICHIGAN CITY — Pet owners are welcome to bring their animals to Queen of All Saints Parish in Michigan City for a blessing on Thursday, Oct. 4.

The event begins at 2:15 p.m. near the school playground, with Father Kevin Huber imparting the blessing. Pets must be leased or in a carrier.

The Blessing of the Pets is an annual tradition at Queen of All Saints. The event always takes place on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis was born in the 12th century and is the patron saint of animals.

The church is located at 606 S. Woodland Ave. in Michigan City.
