MICHIGAN CITY — Mother Sanders along with the Heavenly Sounds will be bringing to the city The Starlight Gospel Singers from Lexington, Missouri, for a concert with the Heavenly Sounds of Michigan City on Saturday at 6 p.m. Also performing will be the Singing Angels and the Melodiares from Michigan City, along with other guests. The concert will be held at Macedonia M.B. Church, 3007 Ohio St., Michigan City.


6th annual Songs of Giving Hearts Charity in Concert

MICHIGAN CITY — The Sixth Annual Songs of Giving Hearts Charity in Concert will be held Saturday and Sunday.

The concerts are offered by an ensemble of local volunteer musicians and vocalists, mostly also community organization representatives, social service workers, music ministers, students, and individuals who are volunteering their time and their talent each year to lend voice and song to sound out on behalf of local community needs in various local programs. This year we hope to raise awareness through song, comedy and story about the challenges we face regarding homeless youth, veterans and their families, the impact of abusive behaviors and violence, and the challenges of mental health needs and suicide prevention.

The compassionate performers include Michelle Alexander, Nic Orbovich, adult and student choir members from Notre Dame, Queen of All Saints, and St Stanislaus churches, and more.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, doors open at 12:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Church, 1000 Moore Road, Michigan City. The Concert on Nov. 11 will be held in the La Porte Hospital Chapel beginning at 2 p.m.

Admission to the concert: Bring donations for the food pantry. Donations will go to the local Sacred Heart and Trinity Episcopal food pantries; winter wear for the homeless families at Sand Castle; and/ or a free will donation. Bring your kind volunteer hearts and learn of opportunities to help. Your generous donations this year will help support: Interfaith PADS Shelter; Suicide prevention programs; Catholic Charities - Gary Diocese; Veterans outreach and support services Give An Hour,

Road to Life services

MICHIGAN CITY — Join Road to Life Church this Sunday as they continue their November series, "Out." Have kids? Bring them along to experience KidTown. Kids ages 0-4th grade are having a blast in KidTown with their series, "This or That," through high energy worship, teaching, games and more!

All services are currently being held at their Michigan City campus, located at 7056 W 450 N, every Sunday at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. Road to Life also offers a Midweek Service every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and childcare is available.

The youth ministry, The Avenue, meets every Sunday evening at the old bowling alley in Chesterton (behind the police station - 124 N 8th St). Students in grades 5-8 meet from 5:30-7 p.m. & grades 9-12 from 7:30-9 p.m.

Services at their Michigan City campus will also be changing to 9 & 11 a.m. beginning Dec. 2.

Bethany anniversary

MICHIGAN CITY — Bethany Bible Baptist Church, 310 E. 5th St., Michigan City, will be celebrating their 45th church anniversary Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. The theme of the event is "The Church Ready," with 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (cf 17) the theme text. All are invited.


Fish Fry

WESTVILLE — The Friday Night Fish Fry crew of the Westville United Methodist Church is serving their Friday night Fish Fries through Nov. 16. Dinner includes your choice of fried or baked pollack or shrimp, or fish/shrimp combo; French fries or baked potato, coleslaw, or mac & cheese or apple sauce; and drink for $9 adults and $8 for senior citizens. Organizers also have a chicken nugget meal for $7. Children’s meal for ages 3-10 is $5 and kids under 3 are free. Dessert and pop is available at an additional charge. Serving from 4 to 7 p.m.

MICHIGAN CITY — At Life Temple COGIC, 3711 W. U.S. 20, Michigan City, will present Praise and Psalms on Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free. The event includes choirs, soloists, groups, a praise dance, gospel comedy and a new gospel release.


15th annual Cookie Walk & Craft Fair

WESTVILLE — Westville United Methodist Family Life Center, 154 W Main Street, Westville, will host their 15th annual Cookie Walk & Craft Fair Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Let organizers do your Christmas baking and you can do some of your shopping at the same time.

MICHIGAN CITY — St. Andrew's by the Lake Episcopal Church has 2 upcoming events that are open to the public.

• Breakfast with St. Nicholas on Dec. 1 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The event includes food, activities & crafts for children 12 and under

• Free Christmas Concert performed by Southern Moonshine Bird Bath Trio from Grayslake, Illinois, on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

There will be light deserts and coffee following performance.
