MICHIGAN CITY — On Wednesday, July 10, at 12:15 p.m., Kent Jager will present the third recital in the 2019 Roosevelt Organ Recital Series at Christ Church, 6th and Washington streets in Michigan City.
Seating is at noon.
Jager is the music director at Queen of Angels Parish in Chicago and a regular performer at these weekly summer recitals played on the historic Roosevelt organ at the church.
At the July 10 recital, Jager will perform a newly composed piece for organ by Chicago composer Tom Stevens. The piece is a four movement suite. It incorporates many traditional compositional techniques such as imitation and a fugue with Stevens’ jazz influenced harmonies. It was premiered in October 2018 at Queen of Angels Church in Chicago as a part of a concert of Stevens’ music.
The concert will also include three additional organ works, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by J. S. Bach, Sonata II by Felix Mendelsohn, and Prelude, Fugue and Variation by Cesar Franck. The Bach is the famous Toccata and Fugue which the world associates with the organ and Halloween.
All are invited to these free concerts
