MICHIGAN CITY — Instrumental music students from Michigan City High School and Barker Middle School were selected for three different Indiana Honor Bands.

The following Michigan City High School students performed in the Indiana All-District Honor Band Festival, which was held Nov. 23-24 at Plymouth High School:

• Erica Galindo, Clarinet

• Adam Howard, Trumpet

• Anna-Lisse Lenard, Flute

• William Mansfield, Tuba

• Gwyneth Sardon, Clarinet

• Mia Taylor, Clarinet

• Andre Williams, Trombone

Five MCHS students will also perform in the Ball State University High School Honor Band on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Muncie. They include:

• Adam Howard, Trumpet

• Anna-Lisse Lenard, Flute

• William Mansfield, Tuba

• Gwyneth Sardon, Clarinet

• Mia Taylor, Clarinet

The Indiana Regional Honor Band, made up of students in grades 7-9, performed on Nov. 17 at Portage High School. This band featured the following students:

• Emray David, Alto Sax, MCHS

• Nathan East, Trumpet, MCHS

• Kyra Krachinski, Flute, MCHS

• Emma Schulp, Trumpet, Barker Middle School

• Savhanna Timm, Flute, Barker Middle School

Student musicians were selected for the honor bands through a competitive application process, which included a director recommendation.

Frank Gast is the band director for Michigan City High School, and Parker Sterling is Barker Middle School’s band director.
