MICHIGAN CITY — Get ready for an evening of beer and wine tasting, live animal interactions and live entertainment.

It's all part of the plan when Washington Park Zoo brings back its annual Brew at the Zoo event, a wild brew fest experience, on June 8 on the Washington Park lake shore.

The festival will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Washington Park Zoo, 115 Lake Shore Drive, Michigan City.

Brewers from all over the region and beyond will be attending this year including Burn ‘Em Brewing, Backroad Brewery, Pokro Brewing, Zorn, Shoreline, Blue Moon, Lagunitas, War Pigs, White Claw, Shady Creek and more.

Food will be served within the included ticket price. According to organizers, this distinguishes the event from most other brew fests in the area where food is not included with admission. Current vendors include: Up N’ Smoke Rib Shack, Matey’s Restaurant and Patrick’s Grille.

Live music will be provided this year courtesy of Hifi2Wifi.

Tickets are $50 for general admission and $15 for designated drivers. They are available via eventbrite at brewatthewpzoo2019.eventbrite.com

“For 2019, we have already sold twice as many tickets over last year around this time so there is a good chance the event will sell out even earlier then it did last year,” said Shawne Sheldon, WPZ Society treasurer.

So be sure to grab some tickets before they are gone (event is 21 and older)!

The event is hosted by The Washington Park Zoological Society. Funds received from the fundraiser go toward the vet care of the animals. Each year the Zoo Society provides up to $25,000 to cover all the medical costs for the animals at the zoo which include wellness checks, vaccines, dental work, and emergency care. These fundraisers allow the zoo to give the animals the best care available and enable them to live healthy, happy lives.
