'Matter' sermon to be held at First Church

MICHIGAN CITY — You, your family and friends are welcome to attend The First Church of Christ, Scientist Sunday Church and Sunday School Services held at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Church is located at 510 East Coolspring Ave., Michigan City.

"... we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” ( 1 Corinthians 8:4 ) is the Golden Text for this Sunday's Bible Lesson-Sermon entitled “Matter.”

Come and learn how a better understanding of God, Christ Jesus and the study of Christian Science is able to help heal you of your problems. Hymns of praise, the Bible lesson, The Lord's Prayer, a vocal solo and other activity will be presented.

Testimonies of Healing are also given at the public Wednesday evening meeting held at 7:30 p.m.

As Christian Healing is one of the main points of Christian Science, documented reports of them are available at no cost to anyone who requests them.

Day of Mindfulness

La PORTE — Peacemakers' Sangha's 18th Day of Mindfulness will be held Sunday in Taleamor Park at the Peterson's LaPrairie Farm, 2215 E. 350 N. La Porte. Registration is at 9:45 a.m. and the event will last from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a $15 donation. The event will include sitting and walking meditation, Qigong~mindful meal and enjoyment of nature. Bring your lunch, water, meditation cushion and/or chair. You're also encouraged to bring a book or writing journal that deals with mindfulness, meditation or spirituality for one of the activities. Converge Church fundraiser

NEW BUFFALO, Mich. — Nancy's by the Lake, located at the corner of Whittaker and Mechanic streets in New Buffalo, will hold a fundraiser for Converge Community Church on Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Eastern time. All food and ice cream will be free. Donations will be accepted for the completion of Converge's community space.

Converge Community Church is putting the finishing touches on the community space to make it safe and secure for events. The community space includes a children's play area, additional classroom space for all ages, multimedia options, and indoor/outdoor seating. Converge is now open to provide space for community events such as weddings, funerals, birthday parties, or meeting space.

NEW CARLISLE — The United Methodist Church, 300 Compton, New Carlisle, will host a Church Bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26.
