Photo courtesy Franciscan Health Michigan CityJessica Parker, a six-year registered nurse in the Franciscan Health Michigan City surgery department, was awarded the hospital’s 2018 St. Camillus Award by Dr. Anil Chawla (far right) during a general medical staff meeting last month. The award, presented since 2010, is named for Camillus, a patron saint of hospitals, nurses and the sick; and is chosen based on medical staff nominations. Chawla, hospital vice president of medical affairs, called Parker “a great team player who is liked and respected by physicians, practices Franciscan values, promotes service and hospitality, and is an ambassador for the hospital in the community.” Parker said she was “excited, surprised and humbled” to learn she had been selected. Also shown are Dr. David Fumo (left), medical staff president; and Dean Mazzoni, hospital president and CEO.
