2 p.m. Bookmarks — The Power by Naomi Alderman will be reviewed by Susan Swarner. The Power is a 2016 science fiction novel by the British writer Naomi Alderman. Its central premise is women developing the ability to release electrical jolts from their fingers, thus leading them to become the dominant gender.
3 p.m. Angels Among Us — As we celebrate the summer solstice, join Ange Benz on a journey of sharing the wonder of our angels. For more information, contact Ange at 219-874-3754.
6 p.m. Slam Camp Performance Night — The library is having a poetry camp for middle school students and this is their chance to shine. The public is invited to attend their performance event. The program will feature Chicago Poet Raych Jackson. Refreshments will be served. Support the kids in our community and you’ll be amazed by their talent!

10 a.m. Story Time — Enjoy stories, songs, activities, crafts and more with the Story Time Crew! Please arrive a few minutes early to receive your child’s name tag. This program is for children ages birth through 5 years, accompanied by an adult.

10 a.m. Man on the Moon — Learn about Apollo 11, which landed the first man on the moon in 1969. Then make a fun craft. All materials provided. Child must be present to receive craft supplies.

2 p.m. Friday Afternoon Movie: Green Book — Join us for a summer movie. The Academy Award-winning film Green Book, starring Best Actor nominated Viggo Mortensen, will be shown. A working-class Italian-American bouncer drives an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South. Rated PG-13.

2 p.m. Intercultural Understanding of Islam — To promote intercultural understanding, the resident Imam of the Islamic Center of Michigan City, Dr. Syed Shah, and his wife, Dr. Andleeb Bagash, will present an educational program on Islam. The event will include a Q & A session and reception.
