Library Remodel Phase II — Please pardon our dust and inconvenience!

The library is in the middle of the second phase of the remodeling. The library's meeting room will be closed through the month of December. Some materials are affected and there will be no material reserves during the next approximately 6-8 weeks. Check the library's website at or our Facebook page for up-to-the-minute updates about changes to library hours and departments. But the good news is we're ahead of schedule, and some of the library collection is now available.

Friends of the Library

Your Friends of the Library membership shows that the library and all it has to offer the community, is important to you and your family. All of your $10.00 per year dues goes to support the Library and its various programs and services. Please consider joining! And the Friends are also having a fundraiser. The perfect time to get all your holiday candy and shop for a great cause! When you bring the flyer (available online or at the library) and purchase delicious Fannie May treats, 30% of the net proceeds will be donated to the Friends of the Library.

Tax Assistance Volunteers Needed

Each year the library participates in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. We are looking for volunteers to offer help at least one day a week during the tax season (Feb-April). The IRS provides some training and you must pass the VITA test through the intermediate level. Testing and training are online. There is a great need in our community for this kind of assistance. Helping can be very rewarding! For more information, call 219-873-3049.

Youth Services

The library is collecting mittens, gloves, hats and scarves during the holidays to decorate our holiday tree. Please turn in donations at the Youth Services desk. Donations will be sent to the Salvation Army. Also, the library is collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. A box will be located near the Circulation Desk through Jan. 3.
